UEFA has commenced formal action concerning Chelsea winger the Portuguese international after he knocked over a young stadium attendant during a Champions League loss by PSG.
The Portugal international, Pedro Neto, shoved the boy during added time of the knockout stage fixture in Paris – a match in which Chelsea lost 5-2 – an action that led to him falling from his seat.
It sparked a confrontation involving both sets of players.
Uefa said the case has been opened against Neto on grounds of "conduct contrary to sporting spirit" in accordance with UEFA's code.
"Uefa's disciplinary bodies will take a decision on this case in due course," European football's governing body announced.
Neto apologised for the incident and blamed getting swept up "in the emotion of the game" when he sought to quickly retrieve the ball.
"I'm not like this. It was in the heat of the moment and I want to apologise. I gave him my shirt. I'm really sorry about it - I feel I have to apologise to him," Neto told the media.
"I don't speak French well, and [Portugal team-mate] Vitinha intervened and told him I was not like this.
"Finally he saw the funny side and I presented him with my jersey and said sorry repeatedly. He could see what had happened and was happy with the situation."
Chelsea welcome Paris St-Germain in the upcoming second leg in the second leg, after Newcastle's visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday in domestic competition.
