19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, winning just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former coach Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents the player's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.
The win also means he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
The player's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to play at the top level was concluded.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.
He rescued four initial break points in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
